In 1991, innkeeper Gretchen Stephenson (a licensed captain and charter chef), started her first Golden Slipper offering floating Bed & Breakfast accommodations aboard a 1960 Chris Craft 40' Cabin Cruiser. After seventeen years of success, that well-loved vessel was decommissioned in 2007.
Due to the great deal of required maintenance on the 1960 wooden Chris Craft, and because it was limited to the dock due to having no working engines, the decision was made to upgrade to a 1984 Catalina Chris Craft, as seen above.
Gretchen and her husband (and first mate) Jack have been chartering south of Boston, offering historic boat building (1644-1878) tours since 1997. Many guests of the Golden Slipper have enjoyed these tours, but many also wanted to explore Boston Harbor. So the new boat is maintained and ready to leave the slip if guests desire, for a personalized tour of Boston Harbor. Gretchen’s background as a charter chef adds the extra-special experience of enjoying gourmet dinners for up to six guests either during a romantic sunset cruise or at the dockside.
Guests from all over the world have shared how they have enjoyed this unique B&B experience, a unique getaway in a very urban setting. Guests can escape to the boat for peaceful moments and relaxation on the aft deck enjoying excellent views of the busy Boston Harbor. In the evening be rocked to sleep with the gentle motion of the water, and then wake up to coffee and muffins on the deck, greeting a new day in historic Boston Harbor. Most guest comments included the fabulous "location, location, location" within walking distance to historical attractions.

The Golden Slipper, Boston’s B&B “Afloat” is a traditional Catalina Chris Craft. The 40’ Yacht is located at Lewis Wharf, in the heart of historic Boston. The boat stays moored at the slip and you come and go as you please. This is a private party yacht accommodating up to six guests, with a continental breakfast left for you. Cruises of Boston Harbor and dinners are available upon request, during your stay.
If you are looking for an absolutely unique and romantic B&B experience to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, engagement, or wedding, the Golden Slipper awaits. It is an ideal romantic getaway for two, but also a fun adventure for four. Two private staterooms are offered with plenty of privacy for both couples, and room to relax on the yachts front and aft decks.
The main salon accommodates 2 more people on a double berth sofa. This layout is perfect for a family vacation, reunion, or “girls' getaway”. The business traveler can enjoy a unique, comfortable setting, as well, and entertain clients with a sunset dinner cruise.
The Golden Slipper has 2 private State Rooms. The aft cabin offers a spacious walk around queen sized bed with a private bathroom that includes a bathtub and shower. The forward berth has a full sized bed and a private bathroom with a shower only. The comfortable main salon offers a roomy galley and a spacious sofa that can be converted to a double bed. Thus, the boat can accommodate up to 6 people.
Located at our very secure, locked marina you're within a short 10-minute walk to Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the Freedom Trail, The New England Aquarium, the trolley, Historical Monuments and Museums and Boston's Little Italy, the North End.
